Instant #1 New York Times bestseller
In James Patterson's white-hot Western thriller, a Texas Ranger fights for his life, his freedom, and the town he loves as he investigates his ex-wife's murder.

Across the ranchlands and cities of his home state, Rory Yates's discipline and law-enforcement skills have carried him far: from local highway patrolman to the honorable rank of Texas Ranger. He arrives in his hometown to find a horrifying crime scene and a scathing accusation: he is named a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Anne, a devoted teacher whose only controversial act was ending her marriage to a Ranger.

In search of the killer, Yates plunges into the inferno of the most twisted and violent minds he's ever encountered, vowing to never surrender. That code just might bring him out alive.

  • Waste of time and money

I have been a fan for 25 years. This didn’t even sound like it was written by the same Patterson I’m used to reading. Seriously disappointing. Don’t bother. Will not be pre-ordering again.

Very disappointing read. Not up to Alex Cross standards. Totally figured out the killer as soon as introduced. Felt like I have wasted my money purchasing this book.
  • Not one of his best works

I think it could have been a much better story. Very formulaic. Very superficial. And I guessed the plot line and outcome pretty quickly.

Another disappointing PATTERSON/somebodyelse Novel. Trite, predictable, 2D characters. Reads like a Danielle Steele novel for teenagers. Putting your name on other writer’s work is lazy man’s way of earning money.

Poorest effort I have ever read by James Patterson. Not at all indicative of what 8 have read or heard about Texas Rangers. Will never read another co- authored book by Andrew.... Sorry, but vey disappointing for 5he money
