Description

On the planet Fortune, tech is low, tensions high, and the price of doing business dangerously steep.

One year after the war with the Coalition States has ended, John Pitte and the crew of the airship Errant aren't just scraping the bottom of the barrel, they're scraping the the deck under the bottom of the barrel.

So when a mysterious woman offers the crew salvation (or, at least, a paying job), John signs on, only to discover that neither the job, nor the woman, are what they appear.

Now John and the rest of the crew are on the run and embroiled in hive of madness and deception, while everything he hoped to save teeters on the brink of disaster.

Outrageous Fortune is the second standalone novel in the science-fantasy series, The Fortune Chronicles. If you enjoyed the characters, banter, and action of Firefly, you'll love the crew of the Errant.

I enjoyed the first book, Soldier of Fortune, so much, I instantly bought and read the second, An Errant Enterprise! The characters are creative with depth, and foibles that endear or enrage. While the general good versus evil battle controls, there are enough twists and turn, along with close calls, that you think of ways to help "the good guys" win. The stories are tied together by an event from Soldier of Fortune, so you might want to read that first, but you can easily enjoy the two books separately. The two authors have put together a seamless, interesting and believable universe, with some steampunk, but many more moral disagreements highlighted. The details are impressive and keep you involved. On Fortune, settlers from a ravaged Earth try to create a new society that won't destroy itself with technology, but can still benefit from it. Anything that gets too close to Star travel is prohibited. Fortune's wars won't destroy their world, but even swords can leave lasting wounds.
