The Royal Dragoneers, 2010 Locus Poll Nominee, and Book One of the Award Winning YA fantasy series, The Dragoneer Saga.

Hold on to your dragon! You’re about to journey through a brave new world of hearty survivors straight into a dragon riding, troll fighting adventure for the ages.

After struggling for more than two centuries to tame the inhospitable, dragon infested Islands where they washed up, the descendants of the survivors of a lost passenger ship are now striving to tame the Mainland they have found.

But the Goblin King, an Ivory antlered demon called Gravelbone, has a different plan for the men who are invading his territory. He and his Nightshade are rallying the trolls to defend their lands.
With the help of the dragons, goblins, and orcs they plan on rendering the wall the humans have built useless, so that they can drive man back to the islands from where they came.

When stubborn King Blanchard finally accepts that the kingdom really is under attack it may be too late, and the only ones who can save the people on the Mainland have been locked away in the dungeon.

Join some brave young men and their mentor, a grizzled old King’s Ranger, and a particularly clever young magic wielding woman, as they traverse the wild frontier, and sail to King’s Island to warn the King of the warring trolls. Then hold on for your life as you tear through the pages, because the pure blooded dragons they have befriended have another plan altogether.

  • Amazing series

I’m glad books 5 and 6 are available now. I read all of these back when they first came out. I’m reading books 1-4 again, so when I read the award winning book 6 which has been kindle exclusive until now, it will all be fresh in my mind. This is a definite must read series and well worth the time and money.
  • All over the place

I liked The First Dragoneer ok, but this is a really badly written book who will appeal only to the youngest. It's a lot like a pizza with way too many toppings on it. Try to pick up a slice and all the toppings will fall off. All the heroes and their dragons are constantly a hair away from dying, the characters are poorly written with no evolution in them. Too many things always happening at once. The story, such as it is, doesn't go anywhere. It's good vs evil at its most basic level. So boring in its predictability that I gave up about 50 pages from the end. Thought about giving it 2 stars but couldn't do it. Even an editor (or a better one if it did have one to begin with) couldn't save this turkey.

I got The First Dragoneer for free to have something to read on my phone at work, and upon finishing it I immediately purchased The Royal Dragoneers. It was an extremely fun, quick read. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I do wish the author had a good editor though. I think with a good editor this book could have been great.

Enjoyed story. Seemed to jump around and repeat the same story line over and over. Even so, I read it through and would enjoy a sequel to finish the story.
