Description

You can't win if you don't play...

Her town's lack of men may make headlines, but it isn't news to Dakota Hendrix. The beautiful blonde has bigger problems to deal with, such as overseeing the romance reality competition filming in Fool's Gold. Screening eligible bachelors is a difficult enough task, but Dakota hits an unexpected snag when a sexy stranger comes to town.

Finn Anderssen will do anything to keep his twin brothers—the perfect contestants—off the show. Despite Dakota's better judgment, she finds herself drawn to the mysterious outsider. Like her, Finn knows about heartbreak and how a family can fall apart, so she doesn't dare to hope for anything more than a fling. After all, even in the Land of Happy Endings, finding true love is never as easy as it looks on TV.

The people of Fools Gold either have parents that are abusive, have died young or both. They have reproductive problems, accidental pregnancies or both. They have been in foster car, have adopted a kid from foster care or both...This series is beyond a formula. And stupid me for purchasing four of them.

Boring....skipped thru pages to find out the end. To many people in story, I felt it didn't focus on main characters enough.

This book was a lot of fun to read. The characters seem so real and you can relate to them. All in all, a great easy read.

Fool's Gold, CA is a small town with a unique problem - there's a man shortage. Now you might think they'd be overjoyed to have a reality show come to town and publicize this, but think about it - would you want your home turned into a ratings ploy? Dakota Hendrix is the town's representative on the production crew, trying to manage the experience in a way that benefits the town. That's where she meets Finn Andersson. Like her, he's not thrilled with the reality show - his brothers hav signed up despite his wishes. He wants them back in college and back on the life track he's picked for them. This is a romance, a genre I love. The overall story arc is predictable - girl meets boy, conflict arises, conflict is overcome, they live happily ever after. But Susan Mallery is adept with both the characters and conflicts that arise. She adds some twists that surprised me (happily so). And Fool's Gold is a charming setting, full of women who care about each other...and the men who love them. I was drawn in from page one, laughed several times along the way, and stayed up later than I should have because I just couldn't go to sleep without finding out what happened next!

Susan has done it again! What a terrific addition to the Fool's Gold series! If you haven't read any of them, RUN to get some! Susan even has a web site dedicated to this series. I laughed, I cried, and I can't wait for the next two in this trilogy of triplets in this town. Susan addresses concerns, situations that all of us have either experienced, or know someone close to us who has. She does it with fully fleshed out characters, believable events and a conclusion that will have you smiling for days, though you'll wish you hadn't read it so fast! I love seeing characters from her three Fool's Gold books last year. I want to move here! Susan totally ROCKS,,,,
