Easy to follow
By Allie Weiland
I am an IS student and I really struggled to understand this concept. This is very clearly written and does not use pretentious language.
A few imperfections but a great guide for beginners and cert takers
When specifying the difference between the devices on layer 1 and 2 there was no explanation as to what the layer 2 device is which could confuse readers but it's just an minor flaw in the documentation. Totally worth reading this is my favorite little pocket guide now! 5 stars for the author
Nice, quick and easy to understand.
Very Basic Info and some is incorrect
This paper might be useful for someone who is just starting out in the networking world. The description of the Application Layer is incorrect. The Application Layer's purpose is to determine whether there exists the need for networking or not. The author attempts to get the reader to believe that this layer is related to computer applications. This simply is not true. The paper also skims over the two layers presentation and session without giving any useful information. Finally, his description of the MAC and LLC sublayers is not actually the way it works.
A good review
I needed a review of the OSI model and this was a good outline.
OSI 7 Layer Model is Awesome
This book is awesome and really breaks downn each layer for a layman to understand.
Good info, but errors
The information is good, but there are several errors throughout. Someone should, at a minimum, run spell checker.
