Take one American singer who doesn’t believe in falling in love…

Josh McInnes’ biological clock is ticking and he wants to get married—now. After 20 years singing soppy love songs, he knows that there is no such thing as romantic love. There’s only hormones and lust. At thirty-five, he’s tired of his playboy lifestyle. He wants a wife who isn’t interested in fame, money, or romance. A sensible wife, who values commitment. He wants a partnership, a friendship, and none of the craziness that goes with falling in love. As far as he can see, there’s only one way to get exactly what he wants—he needs an arranged marriage.

…add a Scottish librarian who has given up on ever falling in love…

Caroline Patterson terrifies men. With her no-nonsense attitude, and ice queen demeanour, she’s in control of everything—and everyone—around her. Her sensible shoes and grey skirt suits act like a force field, repelling male attention. At thirty-one, she can’t remember the last time she went on a date and is beginning to think she’ll never have a family of her own. When an American stranger approaches Caroline with a marriage proposal that resembles a business contract, she quickly accepts. She doesn’t expect romance. But she does expect to control each and every detail of their lives together. Because as life has taught her—if you aren’t in control, bad things happen.

…and you get romance Invertary style!

Josh and Caroline learn the hard way that falling in love isn’t something you can avoid. And it definitely isn’t something you can control. Their well laid plans are about to degenerate into chaos, as they fall in love the Invertary way.

This book was an unexpected surprise. Josh stole my heart from the beginning. His parents were the perfect subplot. I laughed out loud so much while reading this book I had to leave the room. This book is sinfully funny, with romance , and endearing characters that you fall in love with as the story unfolds. The backup cast in this book are as well developed as the hero and heroine. This is a book that leaves you with a warm and fluffy feeling that the world is a better place. It’s a book to read again when you need to relax, laugh and believe.

Well written book that keeps you smiling, sometimes with a tear in your eye. Great bunch of characters, you want them living nearby so you can enjoy their lives playing out in front of you.

  • Good feeling after reading

Parts of this book made me chuckle. It's storyline was different than a lot of romance novels. Successful man wants an arranged marriage without romance. Lots of funny characters that added to plot. Really enjoyed this read.
  • Modern Romance

Lots of laughs and a fine modern romance.
  • Sweet and endearing

The chemistry between both main characters, Caroline and Josh, despite their differences, made for a sweet, endearing, and oftentimes funny story. The town of Invertary with its varied and quirky characters created a setting that felt welcoming and comfortable to the reader. Although Josh and Caroline seem like complete opposites...they always say, “Opposites attract.” Fun and easy read.

This was a great little story. The hilarious secondary characters made me laugh out loud so many times. The plot was a tad predictable, but it’s a wonderful story overall. I could see this as a Hallmark movie.
  • Mildly entertaining

Caroline, the main character, was so over the top stupid, full of herself and delusional that it was hard to like her, and that made it hard to read. She had zero self awareness and was extremely rude and stubborn, making it impossible to understand how an entire town would be so willing to help her and listen to anything she had to say.
  • Okay for an afternoon read.

I enjoyed both characters. I did think the need to force her to listen was over the top and I didn’t much care for the amusement of the men when she was forced to listen. I guess the part the author wrote when she was talking to her parents graves made me understand her and I didn’t much care for the attitude of the others. But over all good enough. I did skip the sex..I get tired of reading about that when I know how it is.
